45 Academy

Our project at the historic 45 Academy Street began as a large vacant space with enormous potential.

Redesigning it as the new headquarters for Paramount Assets, a real estate development company, we retained many of the building’s distinctive attributes. Its original brick walls and exposed wooden beams were features we modernized in a way that celebrates the unique history of this historic building. Logistically, one of the challenges we encountered was designing the layout of the space that would address every department’s individual requirements. Whether employees are part-time or full-time, requiring a quiet space or a place to work collaboratively with others, the office successfully targets every user’s needs. It’s a calming space and very conducive to productivity.
The space includes a rotunda skylight which we designed to be the focal point of a large conference room surrounded by glass and bringing light into the adjacent office spaces. We also created a fifth-floor mezzanine that takes advantage of soaring 19-foot ceilings. Additionally, we incorporated more than 350 linear feet of architectural glass into the floor plan to create a clean, transparent and light filled workspace.
